Are you ready to take control of your own learning?
At Summit Virtual, we partner with students who are ready for a change from a traditional school setting. Every student has a different story to tell, and our goal is to help every student make the next chapter in their story a successful one. At Summit, our primary focus is to take every student from where they are now to where they want to be. For elementary students in grades K-5, we offer classes to closely mirror what the students would be doing at their own grade level, but we can also move students up or down to meet where they are right now. Elementary students may need more guidance from someone at home to get going, but once they get going they can work independently, and they have a certified teacher guiding them the whole way. At the middle and high school levels, students can take their core classes while also taking off in unknown directions to pursue their interests and passions with a wide variety of electives. There are no limits with online options. Scenarios: What does a typical day look like for a Summit Virtual online student? There is no typical day, which is what students and families enjoy! Chloe- Likes to do a little bit with each class every day, so she works on English and math first before taking a break to play outside. Then she works on science and art while she eats lunch. After taking her dogs for a walk and gardening with her neighbor, she works on her social studies project. After dinner, she completes a half-hour of yoga with her mom as part of her PE unit. Tyler- Sleeps until 10 every morning. After practicing guitar and feeding his rabbits, he works on math for an hour and a half. He helps his dad with some baking projects and then putters around the rest of the afternoon. At night, he completes his language arts reading before going to bed. Megan- Tries to keep the same schedule her friends are following at school, so she starts off with math and works on her classes throughout the day with 10 minute breaks in between. She finishes up at 3:40pm just as she pictures her friends heading to the bus. The rest of the day is hers. |
Summit Virtual is an asynchronous online option for families. We know that most of our students prefer to work from home or wherever they may be travelling, but our Summit Virtual staff is always a phone call or email away.
